  • Living a New Life in Christ Jesus
The Sinful, Fallen Nature of All Mankind
Man was originally created by God without sin. However, when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden by disobeying God and eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, the entire human race had fallen. Ever since that time, mankind is born with a sinful, fallen, and depraved spiritual nature.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23
God’s Plan of Redemption
Since there is nothing that we can ever do to change our old corrupted and fallen spiritual nature, God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. Only through the shedding of His perfect blood on the cross do we have the opportunity to be saved by receiving His sacrifice through faith.
“For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.” Romans 5:6
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” Galatians 4:4-5
How to Be Saved and Know It
What will YOU do with Jesus? That is the key question. Your answer will determine where you forever spend all eternity. When a person realizes the truth that they cannot save themselves and without Christ they are hopelessly lost and on their way to Hell, they have a decision to make. They can continue on living the way they are and reject Jesus Christ or repent of their sins and receive Him by faith as their personal Lord and Savior. Salvation means that you believe in the risen Christ, ask Him to come into your heart, and are willing to confess Him before others. This is the evidence of your salvation.
“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” Mark 1:14-15
“And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10
Living a New Life in Christ
Receiving Jesus Christ as Savior means that you repent (turn away) from your sinful life and commit to living a new life in Him. Remember, the way you live your life each day is a reflection of your faith and who you really are inside spiritually. If you have truly received Christ as Savior, then you are a new person and your life will forever reflect it before God and others. The ultimate purpose of your life is to serve the Lord and accomplish His plan for you personally. Before you were ever born, God knew you and had a specific plan for your life. You will never truly be happy until you’re doing whatever it is that He has created you for. What God-given talents and abilities are you blessed with? Take time each day to spend alone with God in prayer. Do you thank the Lord for the blessings you have and for all that He has done for you? Can you be trusted to use wisely what the Lord has given you? Are you willing to ask Him to show you what He has planned for your life ahead and then follow after it? Do you realize that the Christian life is one of spiritual warfare and that the enemy (Satan and his demons) will attack every believer and follower of Jesus Christ? Are you prepared to endure hardship and sacrifice all for Jesus? Will you obey the leading and conviction of the Holy Spirit?
Your answers to these questions will determine how successful you ultimately are in living the Christian life by allowing Jesus Christ to live His life in you and through you. Please remember this very important point: The measure of a truly successful life is not about how the world sees you but how God sees you.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
